Mid-year Observation of the Automobile Market | Strong Performance of Domestic Brands, New Energy Vehicles Become a Highlight
In the first half of 2024, driven by the continuous implementation of favorable policies such as trade-in and new energy vehicle rural promotion, automakers accelerated the research and development of new technologies and models. Coupled with automakers' efforts to boost sales in the first half of the year, the consumption potential of the automotive market was further unleashed, and automobile production and sales maintained steady growth. Data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) shows that from January to June this year, automobile production and sales reached 13.891 million and 14.047 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 4.9% and 6.1% respectively.

Multinational auto parts company's semi-annual report: challenges encountered in electrification-related businesses

According to incomplete statistics from reporters at the Daily Economic News, as of now, multinational auto parts suppliers such as ZF, Continental Group, Forvia, Valeo, BorgWarner, Magna, and Aptiv have all released their financial reports for the first half of this year. From the data, few companies have achieved dual growth in revenue and profit. Among them, ZF leads with revenue of 22 billion euros, but its revenue and profit have both declined; BorgWarner is the only parts company to achieve growth in both revenue and net profit.
